Here we are... first 3weeks in California is almost coming to end so a little update of our USA road trip!
SAN FRANCISCO
What an exciting city! We had two nights here so tried to
see as much as we could in a day. On the first evening we made most of it and
drove around the city experiencing the famous Frisco bumpy roads… our favourite
one was Lombard Street, a zig zag down hill road that we drove down three
times!!! Apparently the local residents aren’t impressed with the attention it
gets and we could imagine why, brilliant though! We also liked Jones St that
was a really steep hill the one where a few famous car chase scenes have been
filmed.
We also visited the mosaic steps that looked pretty cool
and twin peak
hill where you could see the stunning view across the city. We went up there on
the first evening, it was beautiful but with a very cold wind.
On our second day we decided to drive over the Golden Gate
bridge. We thought about cycling over but had so little time driving was a
better option for us.
The most fun we
had was riding on the trams up and down the hills, a brilliant experience. The
smell from the wooden brakes and watching two guys struggling to slow the tram
down!!
We also really liked the Harbour side, there was great feeling about it.
Loads of people walking, running, cycling along there. The Pier 39 was cute
place too, with all those restaurants, shops and tourist sights. The girls
loved the double decker carousel there!
You could also see some seals sunbathing nearby and had a
good view across to Alcatraz.
The people were really friendly too but there were quite a
lot homeless people around in certain areas which you would get in any city.
Driving around the city was pretty relaxing and easy and not as busy as we were
expecting! Frisco left a good feeling for us and would definitely like to
return there one day to see more…
