Sunset Coast drive

We started our sunset tourist drive from going to Hilary's but as it was such a lovely day and a beautiful place, we ended up staying there all day... the girls loved playing in the sand and sea! Steve fell asleep (big mistake... after leaving his hand prints on his skin where he got burned all around them!!!)

Another great park...on the beach! There are lots of lovely restaurants, coffee shops and retail shops and very expensive boats for sale ;)

Later on following week we carried on our sunset coast drive... unfortunately the weather wasn't as nice but perfect day for a car drive.  We stopped here and there... on the beaches and play parks mainly. I didn't find these beaches anything special but they all seemed pretty relaxed places.

Visit to Fremantle

Today we visited the city of Fremantle  in WA, located at the mouth of the river Swan. Fremantle harbour serves as the port of Perth. Fremantle was the first area settled by the Swan River colonists in 1829. It was declared a city in 1929, and has a population of approximately 25,000.
The city is named after Captain Charles Fremantle, the English naval officer who pronounced possession of WA and  established a camp at the site. The town has beautiful and unique shops and lots of coffee shops and restaurants. It has a famous indoor market which is open friday-sundays but, have to say it was a bit disappointment, we were expecting a bit more from it! Harbour front was nice though and we did have some lovely fish & chips at Kailis fish market cafe!

Saw this old fire station that is now a backpackers hostel!

Steve was happy to find a skate/ bmx park and could watch them for hours... the girls preferred to be next door... in a play park again!!! I am actually taking a photo of every playpark we stop at (there are lots)! so lets see how many we end up with after 5months of travelling!!!

V8 Birthday Treat

Had a great day out at MC Motorsports driving V8 cars around a track. Had a driving briefing first off, followed by a couple of warm up laps and my 'hot' (or so i thought) laps. Then Leigh my instructor (who we are staying with) showed how it should be done.....epic!!

Caversham wildlife park

Last week we visited a local wildlife park to meet the kangaroos, koalas and other unusual animals. We had a great day out and all really enjoyed this experience, even Miia who usually gets nervous about meeting animals. We would highly recommend this park, it was well looked after. There is also whiteman park which has got a large play area for children and a shallow splash pool area. Plenty of picnic areas, tram ride around the park, motor museum, coffee place and several individual handcraft shops.

Feeding kangaroos was definately the highlight of the day!

Koalas were very cute too but asleep!

And at last we got to meet the parks most famous Wombat (a big pig as Emmi called it)! ...

First few days in West Australia

We have really enjoyed our first few days in the outskirts of Perth. Staying in the very beautiful Herne Hill which is in the heart of swan valley, known for many good wineries. Our friends place is surrounded by fields and over looked by  Perth Hills. Pretty awesome view from the pool! Emmi has made friends with the ponies, dogs and chickens. We stopped at a lovely little spot called Noble Falls (top picture) .

The girls have been loving all the great playparks we have explored and swimming in the pool. Luckily it hasnt been too hot yet  but the weather is supposed to turn next week... +30'C! Tomorrow we are off to see the kangaroos in Caversham Wildlife park... more will follow soon..........

More Singapore...

...what an amazing place. The people were really friendly and helpful. We did the usual tourist sightseeing... Night and River Safari, Sentosa and the Marina...

Loved this little coffee shop

Nightlife in the city...

                          .

and finally some fun on Sentosa Island. Which is similar to a mini Disney Resort. We caught the mono-rail over, there is also a cable car. The kids loved The Port of Lost Wonder (left) and the Sky Luge.

Pretty much all we had time to programme in. One nice little extra was walking across part of the track used for the Formula One Grand Prix on the way back to the hotel, But more of a moment for me really......
