Green Island at The Great Barrier Reef

What amazing place, well worth the visit! We went there for a full day which included snorkelling and a trip in a semi submarine. We took the quicker option over on the 'reef rocket' boat which made the trip half the time of the standard boat. Unfortunately it was still a little too long for poor Miia who turned green! The girls loved swimming around and Miia got the hang of snorkelling very quickly. The best bit was when we went on the semi submarine, we could see the coral and all the marine life better. Not best pleased about seeing a shark when Steve had convinced me there wasnt any... that was the end of my snorkelling!!! The island is beautiful and we could have spent even longer there if we had the time.We caught the last boat back as it was. Really pleased we took the time to visit Green Island, one off the bucket list!!

Daintree rainforest

We were very excited about going on sky rail to the Daintree rainforest. This was 7.5km long journey over the rainforest to get to a village called Kuranda. Views were amazing and we stopped at two viewing stations on the way to take photos and enjoy of beautiful views over amazing waterfalls.

At Kuranda we had 3hours free time to explore the tiny rainforest village and its endless markets. Luckily we also found another park! That kept the girls entertained for half an hour between the showers that you are supposed to experience in a ‘rain’ forest!

Back to Cairns we took a Scenic train ride through over 15 different tunnels and bridges. Again we stopped other side of Barron falls for a photo opportunity and later also passed Stoney Creek falls. The day we finished having a bbq by the beach and also saw Santa when they lit the lights on the Christmas tree at the Cairns Esplanade!

Sunset Coast drive

We started our sunset tourist drive from going to Hilary's but as it was such a lovely day and a beautiful place, we ended up staying there all day... the girls loved playing in the sand and sea! Steve fell asleep (big mistake... after leaving his hand prints on his skin where he got burned all around them!!!)

Another great park...on the beach! There are lots of lovely restaurants, coffee shops and retail shops and very expensive boats for sale ;) 

Later on following week we carried on our sunset coast drive... unfortunately the weather wasn't as nice but perfect day for a car drive.  We stopped here and there... on the beaches and play parks mainly. I didn't find these beaches anything special but they all seemed pretty relaxed places.

Visit to Fremantle

Today we visited the city of Fremantle  in WA, located at the mouth of the river Swan. Fremantle harbour serves as the port of Perth. Fremantle was the first area settled by the Swan River colonists in 1829. It was declared a city in 1929, and has a population of approximately 25,000.

The city is named after Captain Charles Fremantle, the English naval officer who pronounced possession of WA and  established a camp at the site. The town has beautiful and unique shops and lots of coffee shops and restaurants.It has a famous indoor market which is open friday-sundays but, have to say it was a bit disappointment, we were expecting a bit more from it! Harbour front was nice though and we did have some lovely fish & chips at Kailis fish market cafe! 

Saw this old fire station that is now a backpackers hostel! 

Steve was happy to find a skate/ bmx park and could watch them for hours... the girls preferred to be next door... in a play park again!!! I am actually taking a photo of every playpark we stop at (there are lots)! so lets see how many we end up with after 5months of travelling!!!
